I love hosting authors, especially those who are new to me. Let's get to know Jane right now. Hey, Jane! Welcome! When did you start writing? I started writing at age 11, it was a story about a resurrected Egyptian princess inspired by watching The Mummy one too many times. Since that point I have been writing on and off for the past 9 years, my writing style maturing. I’ve had multiple stories on the go but never actually finished one until I was 23. What book do you remember reading that inspired you to write something of your own? I don’t remember a particular book per say but I use to read anything I could get my hands on, I love the escapism they offer and the possibilities that are only limited by your own imagination. I have probably forgotten more books than I will ever remember. But one November I had a single idea. It involved a tough cowgirl returning to her hometown like the prodigal and a past misunderstanding with a rancher that loves her still putting them on a direct collision course. It started as a bit of fun but ended up drawing me down the rabbit hole of being an author as 10 months later Mustang Wild was published. What is it about the sub-genre of DD/BDSM/power exchange that inspires you to write about it? I love strong heroines but adore it even more when they butt heads with an even stronger hero. I find the idea of ‘surrendering’ to a dominant personality powerfully erotic. Oh, me, too! Yes, I call it surrender rather than submission. My heroines tend to be feisty and strong but overwhelmed. Having someone strong enough to settle you and bring you back into line when you are spinning out of control. They are strong enough to break down those barriers and it is having that level of trust between two partners to reveal your most vulnerable side and give up control just for a little while. I couldn’t agree more. Do your friends and family know this side of you? Publishing your book and allowing others to read is like baring my soul, each book is injected with a part of yourself and you are holding that part up to be judged. This is hard enough when you don’t know the person but the closer you are to someone the harder it is. However, my close family and friends already know I’m crazy and are aware of my super, secret author identity and they are wonderfully supportive. Some even read my books with the understanding that they are welcome to, but if genre is not their cup of tea, not an issue, just not tell me. How is this book different from your prior book(s)? Ummm, I may have done the forbidden and utterly changed sub-genres, my first book Mustang Wild was a contemporary western romance, my next one is a fantasy romance. However, they have several things in common I enjoy strong characters that are at cross purposes and the journey they take together Sweet. What are you working on now? At this moment I am preparing for the release of Playing with Fire (Bride of Fire Series Book 2). In terms of writing I working on a Historical Regency. After the world building in the Bride of Fire Series I wanted to work on something lighter and was inspired from a holiday to Scotland and a visit to Gretna Green. I intend for it to be more relationship driven with an unusually independent heroine, a damaged but protective hero and a marriage neither of them intended. Awesome! Best of luck and thanks for joining me today. Here’s the skinny on Jane’s current book--Great cover, too! Rearing up I found a firm hand planted in the center of my back pinning me in place. The only thing I had succeeded in doing was loosening my own trews. To my horror, his fingers curled into the waistband. I threw my hips from side to side, my attempts at evasion pitiful. “You can’t do this!” My protests went unheeded. He calmly took a firm grasp of my hips and threw his leg over mine. Panting, I found I couldn’t move, trapped like a creature in a snare. “I’m making sure I can see if I truly hurt you.” The fabric rasped over my tender skin. Shivering, my squirming bottom revealed to the elements, the chilled air bringing a moment of relief. “Trust me, it hurt.” His hand rubbed the reddened flesh, murmuring, “Your skin colors so easily.” The touch ignited a steady throb between my legs—what in Khatri’s name? The pause allowed me to gather my wits. “Do you know why you are in this position?” Khatri’s tits, he wanted to talk now! “Because you can’t abide being defied!” I hissed, struggling to concentrate on anything but calloused fingers now tracing patterns on my heated flesh. Closer and closer to the apex and I wiggled, longing for more of the same. The soft touch lingering at the sensitive crease where buttock met thigh. I shivered but it was different from the previous man who had touched me. It wasn’t revulsion, it ignited a fire that I didn’t know how to put out. “Is that what you think?” Lazily the finger drew back and forth, and my muscles jerked in response. The unexpected wallop shattered the first inklings of pleasure and sent my cheeks bouncing. The sting increasing tenfold without clothing to mute it. “Try again.”
